    Understanding Spatial Audio

    Staying abreast of trends in audio technology is something that we at KARE try to stay on top of and use this information to help educate and inform our audience.

    Recently, Apple has introduced spatial audio to its users.  Spatial audio is a format that will allow users to listen to selected tracks with a surround sound and 3D audio effects via iPhones, iPads, AirPods and HomePods.

    The use of captions when watching content was originally designed to help those with hearing loss understand what is being said.  This can give someone more confidence knowing that they can participate in more group listening activities.  It just so happens that they are not the only ones that enjoys captions.

    Having trouble understanding TV dialogue

    As you already know, many people have trouble understanding the dialogue on TV.  There can be many reasons for this.  The most common reason is hearing loss.  If a person is dealing with high frequency hearing loss, the sound can be muffled making it difficult to clearly understand what is being said.

    Having the Oscars back this year felt a little different to me than it has in the past. Having it delayed due to the pandemic was an obvious abnormality.  

    Normally, you would have a good idea about who and what was nominated because you have either seen or at least known about the movies and actors/actresses that were nominated.
