Manufacturing in the US needs to become the gold standard it once was, but in a modern way.
Most companies believe that manufacturing overseas is a better option than at home simply because it is cheaper. That wasn't always the case. Back in 1965, manufacturing made up 53% of the US economy.
The good news is that manufacturing is making a comeback. Instead of going to countries like China, companies are investing back into manufacturing here at home.
By tapping into growing middle class, smaller companies can tap into this demand and take advantage a growing opportunity. Plus, when you factor in changes to labor cost, overseas manufacturing seems less compelling.
When companies manufacture at home, it shows a greater commitment to a higher standard of quality due to stricter standards and regulations, while also having a deeper knowledge of the industry. Overseas manufacturing presents greater risks due cheaper materials, lower standards and poorer training.
The future of manufacturing will be highly digital, a trend that applies to our strengths. Technologies like advanced robotics, augmented reality and 3D printing will give us the agility to adapt to multiple markets. These technologies will create opportunities for growth. Some of these fields are in aerospace, automotive, equipment and machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and high-tech devices.
At KARE, we are proud to say that we will be apart of this future. Starting in the fall of 2020, KARE will be producing the ChairSpeaker here in the USA. We recognize that there is a great opportunity for helping out our economy and keeping more jobs from going overseas.
